Mary Brunton was a highly acclaimed Scottish novelistof the early 1800s, whose work has been seen as redefining femininity, and whose career rivalled Jane Austen’s.

Her Historic Environment Scotland plaque is installed at 35 Albany Street, Edinburgh, where she lived.
